ODARO IS A CULTURAL DESIGN PRACTICE.

We work at the intersection of culture, narrative, and design, for institutions, brands, cities, and communities that want their work to land with depth and last beyond the moment.

Who we are

We are a practice rooted in Benin City, Nigeria, with a network of collaborators across Africa and beyond. We bring together research, story-making, and design as one way of working. The team for any given project is built around what the project needs.

What we believe

We believe that culture is not decoration. It is the foundation of how people understand themselves, their places, and each other. We believe that the most important stories are often the least represented — and that the work of bringing them forward, with rigour and care, is some of the most meaningful work there is.We believe that strong cultural work is built on insight, not assumption. It is shaped by people who know the place, the context, and the community.

Our ethos

We lead with curiosity and follow with craft.

We treat communities as collaborators, not audiences.

We document what we learn, because insight compounds.

We are connectors and conversation starters — invested in the cultural ecosystem, not just the brief.

How We Work

Context → Story → Format → Insight

We start with understanding. We listen, we research, we build a clear picture. The story shapes the format — never the other way around. After every project, we capture what we learned so the next one goes further.

Who We Work With

Cultural institutions and museums. Brands and businesses. Foundations and development organisations. Cities and tourism initiatives. Archives and research bodies. Artists, curators, and practitioners. Independent projects and individuals.

Collaborators

Odaro works with a network of trusted collaborators — designers, researchers, writers, filmmakers, producers, and cultural practitioners — assembled around the specific needs of each project.
